In this quick series we’re going to introduce you to a selection of top South African junior surfers who are set to compete in the Billabong Junior Series Grand Finale at Seal Point in Cape St Francis. The event is set to take place over the long weekend of 25 – 27 September.
Surfer Profile No3 – Sebastian Williams

One surfer who has started enjoying good success in the Billabong Junior Series is young Sebastian Williams. Originally from Mexico, Sebastian now calls JBay home, and surfs and trains on the waves of Supertubes, as well as Bruces Beauties in St Francis Bay and Seal Point in Cape St Francis. He is a powerful natural-footer and has proven himself in right-hand point-breaks in the past. He is leading the U16 division after a convincing win in the first event in the Billabong Junior Series, held at Magnatubes in JBay in July.
Sebastian is the son of legendary South African surfer Tim Williams. Tim is an established surfer who has traveled the world and worked within the surf industry before setting up camp at a perfect wave in Mexico a few years ago. It was here, in the warm water of Mexico, that Sebastian honed his talent and emerged as one of the best junior surfers in the world. He has been on the Surfer Magazine Hot 100 list for 5 years. Every year, in their May issue, Surfer Magazine publishes their definitive guide to the world’s best young surfers, and Sebastian is currently rated 6 in the world on this list.
Last year Sebastian enjoyed a few good swells in the area, including one epic run of surf in the St Francis Bay area. To see more of that session, and to see Sebastian surfing at the top of his game, check out the Bruces Beauties YouTube edit:
Apart from all the talent and skills, Sebastian also has the level head needed to win contests. He has proven himself whilst surfing against his peers and has often won events against higher divisions, punching above his weight. He is set for a long and successful surfing career and is most definitely a surfer to be watching at Seal Point.
