The 2nd of the 3 event Billabong Junior Surfing Series presented by BOS will be taking place in Cape Town from the 8th -10th August. This junior surfing contest represents the 50th Billabong Junior Series held in SA.
Dubbed the most prestigious and longest running junior surfing series in the country and has spawned champions like Jordy Smith, Mikey February, Beyrick De Vries and Dale Staples to name a few.
The series introduces young surfers to a healthy, competitive and fun environment with the goal to allow them to become competitive surfers. The events are run following the ASP guidelines giving the surfers a glimpse of what life as a pro surfer is like.
The following divisions will be competing in Cape Town:
U12 Boys
U14 Boys and Girls
U16 Boys and Girls
U20 Boys and Girls
U20 is the premier Pro Junior division and U16’s are also invited to compete in this division as well and compete for the R30 000.00 prize money.
Other series awards include the BOS Surfer of the Series award where the winner with receive R10 000.00, BOS Merch, a custom made BOS surfboard and a year’s supply of BOS. The series winner in the U20 Boys and Girls division will receive a limited edition Nixon 48-20. Nixon WTA, DaKine Wave of the Day, KR Fins Free Award and Dennis Ellis Underground Ripper Award.
