Rip Curl South Africa proudly announces the first Rip Curl GromSearch competition for 2024, a Surfing South Africa event. Taking place from 16th to 18th February at Long Beach in Cape Town and is presented by Sea Harvest. Entries are open HERE.
There will be five Rip Curl GromSearch events this year. The premier division of the series is the U16 division, and the top four results out of five will determine the 2024 Rip Curl GromSearch Series Results.
The Rip Curl GromSearch Series has been a great stepping stone for the recent champions of the sport. Former International GromSearch competitors include the likes of Jordy Smith, Kolohe Andino, Filipe Toledo, Gabriel Medina, Mason Ho, Stephanie Gilmore and Tyler Wright.
All eyes will be on the Cape Town contingent in Kommetjie, including surfers like Kai Stubbs, who won the U14 division in 2023 at this event, Ben Esterhuyse, Levi Epenetos, Levi Kolnick, Emily Jenkinson and others.
The series allows kids to compete against the best surfers in the same age bracket from their country. This format provides these groms with an insight into a life of competitive surfing and gives them the invaluable experience of surfing and competing in different waves around the country.
The Rip Curl GromSearch contests are all premier SAST events, with 1,000 points going to the winners as well as prize money per all premier events.
Contestants must register as members of Surfing South Africa to compete in this Premier SAST Event. Go here – SSA Membership – to register as an SSA member.
