Round 3 of the 2021 South African National Motocross Championship took place over the weekend at Phakisa in Welkom. A descent blend of close racing and surprise results served to shake the championship chase.

Tristan Purdon returned again with a dominant performance to take the double win on the day and increase his championship lead. David Goosen looked to be back up to speed claiming 2nd overall for the day with a 2-2 finish. Jesse Wright rounded off the podium in 3rd, followed by Cameron Durow in 4th.

Close battles made for exciting racing the MX2 class. Tristan Purdon went 3-2, David Goosen went 1-3 and Cameron Durow went 2-1, resulting in Durow taking the overall followed by Goosen and Purdon. Anthony Raynard and Dalton Venter were close behind the 4th and 5th places.

The battle of the season is underway in the Ladies class with Kayla Raaff and Leah Heygate remaining tied on points. Again sharing the 1st and 2nd place finishes but with Heygate taking the overall. Jadene De Lima took the final step of the podium.

Blade Tilley made no mistakes as he took a dominant double win ahead of Blake Frost and Aiden Henley. 2nd in the first race and championship leader heading to Welkom, Jack Pullen failed to finish the second race to hand Tilley the red plate heading to round 4.
