2021 SA Motocross Nationals Legends MX Race Report

The final round of the 2021 South African National Motocross Championship took place over the weekend at Legends MX near Pretoria. Championship titles came down to the final race of the season producing exciting bar-to-bar racing action.

MX1 (2021 Champion – Tristan Purdon)

Tristan Purdon took back-to-back wins to secure the 2021 title. Closest title rival and teammate, Cameron Durow went 2-2 for 2nd while David Goosen went 4-3 for 3rd overall. Jesse Wright and Jayden Proctor rounded out in 4th and 5th.

While Cameron Durow went on to take the double win and overall for the day, Tristan Purdon’s 2-2 for 2nd secured the MX2 championship as well. David Goosen followed with a 3-3 for 3rd overall.

Grant Frerichs wrapped up the MX3 title with a double win over Ian Topliss. Bruce Viljoen finished in 3rd and Philip Harper in 4th.

125 High School (2021 Champion – Jonathan Mlimi)

Jonathan Mlimi claimed another 125cc championship by winning both heats and taking the day’s overall. Miguel de Waal went second in both motos for 2nd with Luke Grundy rounding off the podium in 3rd.

Ladies (2021 Champion – Kayla Raaff)

85cc Pro Mini (2021 Champion – Emmanuel Bako)

In an exciting title fight Emmanuel Bako secured the 2021 championship with a double win over Neil van der Vyver in 2nd and Ryan Adler in 3rd.

85cc Junior (2021 Champion – Matthew Correia)

Matthew Correia played it safe, finishing 202 for 2nd and the overall 2021 title. Tyler Petersen took the day’s overall victory with Tyla Sheppard finishing in 3rd.

65cc (2021 Champion – Blade Tilley)

Aiden Henley took the double win and overall for the day, followed by Blake Frost in 2nd and Sven Larsen in 3rd. Blade Tilley’s 4th place finish was enough to secure the 2021 title.

50cc (2021 Champion – Trenton Kretzmann)

Rayden Woolls went 2-1 for the day’s win. Trenton Kretzmann finished in 2nd with a 1-3 finish, enough points to tie up the championship. Cassie van Zyl finished in 3rd.
