The 2019 Red Bull Joyride closed off the Slopestyle MTB season at Crankworx Whistler with Emil Johansson producing a sensational first run to deny home hero, Brett Rheeder the Triple Crown of Slopestyle.
Emil Johansson put down a classy and smooth full first run that was stacked with Tailwhips in all directions and perfect landings to set the bar with a huge 95.75 score – the score that would ultimately win the competition.
Brett Rheeder won the first two 2019 Crankworx rounds and was looking to take home the Triple Crown. After making a couple of mistakes in his first run for a rocky 71.75, Rheeder came back and pulled everything out of the bag in the second run including a Windshield Wiper and Backflip Oppo Tailwhip only to fall short of Johansson’s score by 1.25 points with a 94.50.
Dawid Godziek matched his 3rd place finish from Innsbruck to show he will be a force in 2020, and unleashed a phenomenal twister halfway down.
