2018 SupaDrift Series Round 4 Drift Report

Aldo Scribante Racetrack in Port Elizabeth was the epitome of a Drifting spectacular when Round 4 of the SupaDrift Series stepped into town. Drifters from all over South Africa made their way to do battle and gain valuable season points.

The Pro 1 Class made for some interesting battles, especially when it came to the final and Trevor Puren took it to newcomer, Tinashe Bundo. The battle was enthralling and unfortunately Bundo spun his car into a donut in the penultimate corner of the final tandem missing out narrowly on the podium’s top spot.

The PRO Class was a nail-biting showdown. Drivers were thrown a curve ball when the erratic weather conditions resulted in the surface of the Aldo circuit to be anything but predictable. Qualifying was compelling and engaging with top marque performances going to Jonno van Eyssen, who qualified in 1st place followed by Chris Long in 2nd.

Standout competitors included the likes of the Puren brothers who both made it into the Top 8, Chris Long who brought his A-Game but was outdrifted by Gavin Puren. Zanil Satar and Jason Webb had some brilliant battles making it into the Final 4.

The weather turned bad, rain came down and the blacktop surface got slippery. Despite this, the Top 4 pairings rendered some brilliant tandem action. Zanil Satar went door to door with Gavin Puren, with Puren the victor. Jonno van Eyssen succumbed a close encounter when up against Jason Webb but failed to beat his rival.

Zanil Satar beat Jonno van Eyssen in the 3rd/4th battle. Jason Webb was pushed to the very end by Gavin Puren in the Final but a small blunder from Puren left Webb in the clear and gave him the victory. Webb now boasts 4 from 4 wins in the 2018 SupaDrift Series Title pursuit.
