The second round of the 2017 Monster Energy TRP Distributors SA National Motocross Championship took place at Zone 7 in Cape Town at the weekend. Extreme heat put the riders to the ultimate test as they battled for valuable season points.
In the MX1 class it was all Tristan Purdon. Purdon’s recent move to Cape Town paid off racing on the home track as he dominated both heats to take the overall for the day. Hometown favourite, Anthony Raynard, was out of action due to a broken hand. Caleb Tennant made his return to racing after a 2-year break and put on an impressive performance, going 2-2 for 2nd overall. Kerim Fitz-Gerald rounded out the podium in 3rd place with Richard van der Westhuizen in 4th and David Goosen in 5th.

Maddy Malan was again untouchable in the MX2 class taking both heat wins for the overall. Richard van der Westhuizen found good speed in the MX2 class and went 2nd for the day with David Goosen finishing in 3rd.
