Round 2 of the 2016 SupaDrift Series is in the books and what an event it was, seeing world-class drifting action showcased at Killarney Raceway in Cape Town. Tension was electric in the pits as drivers prepared to battle it out for valuable season points.

Qualifying was interesting with only 18 drivers posting scores while the rest got caught out by the initiation speed, a pesky front clip and the long sweeping line. The result was a stack of double zero scores and some new faces in the Top 16, and no Top 32 runs. The crowds were treated some competitive battles in the Top 16 eliminations.

Impressive drifting skills saw Jason Gorman take Driver of the Day but he lost out in the tandems against Jason Webb. Webb struggled with his machine and eventually bowed out against Zein Hussein in the Top 8. Jim Mc Farlane was a man on a mission and plowed his way through the pairings to meet Shane Gutzeit in the final.

Gutzeit’s Nissan Silvia S15 was un-drivable after an incident during the Friday Practice, so he decided to compete in his father’s V8 Skyline. A good choice that saw him drift his way to the final. Mc farlane vs Gutzeit it was and what a nail biting final it turned out to be. In the end Gutzeit took the with over Mc farlane. Zanil Satar finished in 3rd and Zein Hussein in 4th.
