2016 SA Motocross Nationals Holeshot Harry’s Race Report

The penultimate round of the 2016 Monster Energy TRP Distributors SA National Motocross Championship provided exciting bar-to-bar action at Holeshot Harry’s in Harrismith as riders vied for valuable season points.

An on-form David Goosen dominated both the MX1 and MX2 divisions to take the wins in both classes. The now Joburg based rider beat Anthony Raynard and Sacha Naude into 2nd and 3rd in the MX1 division, and Joshua Mlimi and Anthony Raynard into the same minor positions in the MX2 division.
Championship contender, Kerim Fitz-Gerald had a day of bad luck but managed to save enough points to stay in the championship hunt leading into the final round.

Ryan Hunt once again came out on top in the MX3 division, beating Brett Bircher into 2nd, ahead of Marc Ansley who was in 3rd. Hunt was top of the MX3 leaderboard going into this event, and this victory cements his 2016 overall championship win.

In the highly contested MX High School division Keegan Hickson-Mahoney emerged victorious, fighting off some strong competition from Marco De Vrye and Cayle Dormehl who came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The popular Ladies division saw a repeat of Syringa, with Nanda Clowes once again taking the win from Brittany Cuthbert in 2nd and Leah Heygate in 3rd.

In the Pro Mini division Camden McLellan took the win from Slade Botha. Jonathan Mlimi emerged victorious in the 85cc Junior division, with Hayden Tully in a close 2nd.

The final event of the 2016 Monster Energy TRP Distributors SA National Motocross Championship takes place at the new Terra Topia on the 8 October.
