2016 Billabong Junior Series Champions Crowned

As forecast, the wind was pumping straight onshore and the waves were not very good for the final day of the Billabong Junior Series at Seal Point. Highly contestable is what the term is when the there is a possibility of getting good scores but the waves are terrible. Luckily, or maybe due to good planning, there were only a few heats left to run, and the contest organisers went straight into it from 7am, onshore wind and all, quickly finishing off the semifinals.

As the heats and finals continued to wind down, so the beach break started to improve and before long the beach was full of kids boosting and trying their best air tricks into the wind. The onshore easterly is the perfect wind for trying and making airs. In fact, the kids made the waves look so good that the contest organisers moved the VonZipper Airshow over to the beach-break to allow the surfers more opportunities. This was won by Eli Buekes from Kommetjie.
