Event 4 of the 2015 SupaDrift Series took place at the Dezzi Raceway on Port Shepstone. From the get go the tome was set for a great weekend of drifting action with adrenaline pushing through the air as drivers prepared to tear up the Dezzi black top.
The 31 strong field pushed their skills to the limit battling it out to qualify for the Top 16. Shane Gutzeit qualified in 1st but got taken out in the Top 16 when Jean Mare initiated and Gutzeit carried too much speed seeing him leave the track and end up on the grass wash.
George Myburgh impressed and created a frenzy when he eliminated Zein Hussein. Hussein went wide during a tricky initiation allowing Myburgh to pass as secure a place in the Top 8.
A broken tie-rod-end saw crowd favourite Jason Webb retire in the semi final and Wade van Zummerun moving onto the final. Myburgh lost his semi final run to Paulo Gouveia who was on good form.
Gouveia’s good form was not enough to match Van Zummerun’s though, as he claimed victory and took home the 4th round bragging rights.
Round 5 of the 2015 SupaDrift Series heads to the Rock Raceway in Brakpan on the 24 – 26 July and as a part of the Gauteng Motor Fest.
