The biggest skate comp of the year is underway in the Northern Cape. The 2015 Kimberley Diamond Cup Skateboarding World Championships takes place from 7 – 10 October and sees the world’s best skaters in South Africa competing to the titles.
Among the worlds best skaters, a host of local athletes will also be seen competing in the South African Women’s Street Skateboarding World Championships, Rider Cup, South African Vert Skateboarding World Championships, South Africa Am Street Skateboarding World Championships, Top Grom Championships and the African Street Championships. The top 3 finishers in the African Street Championships will go through to the KDC Street World Championships qualifiers.
The exciting Women’s Street Skateboarding World Championships sees Leticia Bufoni, Marisa Dal Santo, Lacey Baker, Sammaria Brevard, Vanessa Torres, Katt Williams, Alexis Sablone and more competing for the title on Thursday night just before the official opening ceremony.
Pro skaters competing in the Pro Vert World Championships include PLG, Andy McDonald, Sandro Dias, Alex Perelson, Jono Schwan, Mitch Brusco, Elliot Sloan, Marcelo Bastos among others. Always a fan favourite and will be a highlight to watch on Friday night.
The likes of Nyjah Huston, Tommy Fynn, Greg Lutzka, Luan Oliveira and Kelvin Hoefler will be competing against skaters from around the world as well as South Africa in the KDC Street World Championships. This event also closes off the 2015 KDC on Saturday evening.
