2014 CASA Cable Wake Tour Stop 1 Review

Stop 1 of the 2014 CASA Cable Wakeboarding and Wakeskating Pro Tour is in the books. Held in Warmbaths over the weekend with over 40 riders descending on the awesome Forever Resorts cable way to compete for top honors.

The first stop of the CASA Cable Wakeboarding and Wakeskating tour is in the books
To increase spectator value and intensify the event with continuous action the event was held over one day. The level of riding was of international standard with new and old tricks been landed. The spontaneous drive and excitement of the competition where R10 000.00 was thrown onto the mix saw attempts at the Nickelodeon and, two riders land a Double S-Bend in the big air jam.

The event on Saturday was intense and jam packed with the qualifiers, semi’s and finals all taking place on the same day. On the Sunday CTRL Wake South Africa hosted the Big Air, Rail Jam and Game of Skate contests which were a huge success. The format saw 20 minute heats go down for the Big Air and Rail Jam.

CTRL South Africa’s intention around creating these type of events are to push current riders to higher levels and to encourage beginners and new riders to join in the fun of Wakeboarding and Wakeskating. Big Air was judged on the biggest air a rider could achieve, the Rail Jam on the technical aspect of style and intensity. Game of Skate was where the riders would copy tricks and if not landed would get the letter “S” starting the way, and for every trick not landed would continue receiving letters until the word S K A T E was accumulated, the rider with the least amount of letters was the winner.
