The 2014 installment of the Billabong Junior Surfing Series presented by BOS has been announced. Since 1997 SA’s best junior surfers have been competing in this esteemed series that has racked up 48 events and over R1Million paid in prize money over the years.
The series forms a great platform for top junior surfers to perfect their competitive surfing skills and a healthy and fun environment. The series has served as a important stepping stone into a professional surfing career.
The 2014 series will consist of three 3 day events; Mossel Bay – 25 – 27 April, Cape Town – 8 – 10 August and Cape St Francis – 3 – 5 October. There will be a total of 9 divisions for surfers to compete in and the premier U/20 Boys and Girls divisions will now also carry a 1star ASP Pro Junior rating.
Included in each event will be a number of specialty awards such as the BOS Surfer of the Contest, NIXON WTA, DaKine Wave of the Day and KR Fins Free. Some fun mini events thanks to VonZipper will include the VonZipper BrainBlast Off and the Coaches vs Judges Tag Team Tussle.
The 2014 Billabong Junior Surfing Series is set to be one of the best yet. Save the dates and if you’re not competing, make sure to get to the various venues to support the surfing action.
