The 2013 Vic Bay Quad surfing contest in memory of John Pfaff took place this past weekend in 4 foot onshore conditions and saw the determined and motivated Eastern Province team take the win.

The Eastern Province team dominated the finals in all 5 divisions. Matt McGillivray took the win with a stunning results in the Open Men’s division with Sean Holmes in 2nd, Matt Bromley in 3rd and Michael Monk in 4th. With a total of 7 finalists across the 5 division, Eastern Province earned 43 340 points and the overall victory.

The runner up spot was taken by Western Cape with a score of 42 068 and hosts, Southern Cape took 3rd with a total of 41 260 points. Boland finished in 4th with a score of 36 806 and 2012 champions, Border, finished in 5th with 32 340 points.
Western Province surfer, Tanika Hoffman won the Woman’s division title ahead of Faye Zoetmulder. Britney Linder finished in 3rd and Roxy Giles in 4th.

Tyrell Johnson won the Over 30 title with Clint Fraser in 2nd, Barry Delport on 3rd and Stephan Lindeque in 4th.
In the SA Masters division, Wayne Monk defended his 2012 title by beating Greg Smith who finished in 2nd, Gareth Sepp in 3rd and Steven Gadd in 4th.
2012 Over 50 Division champion, Steven Hair defended his title against Dave Fish who took, Kurt Buchaner and Andre Venter in the final.

The original 2013 Vic Bay Quad surfing contest was due to take place in order but was postponed due to huge surf that made running the event impossible. Despite starting in the pouring rain, the event was a success and a fitting tribute to John Pfaff. The event was hosted by Southern Cape Boardriders Association and presented by Surfing South Africa.
