The final round of the 2013 CASA Wakeboarding and Wakeskating cable nationals went down this weekend at Warmbaths in Bela Bela. The Liquid Force Cable Nationals saw the countries best riders gather to compete for the 2013 title.

The pace of the contest was set on Saturday afternoon during the qualifiers where riders put everything on the line and landed huge tricks and stylish manoeuvres over the rails and kickers. Conditions for the finals on Sunday where cloudy with a light drizzle but this did not damper the spirits of the riders and the contest itself.
The Novice division were first in the water. Perfect Dube, CASA Learn 2 Ride development rider, impressed the judges and landed a huge Railey in his run to take the overall win ahead of Tristan Wootton in 2nd and Liam Wootton in 3rd. 11 year old, Nikolai Coetzee competed in what was only his second contest and impressed both the judges and spectators, showing that the growth and level of Wakeboarding is on the up.
Always an exciting and close matchup is the Wakeskating division. Matti Buys has just come off surgery to his hand and had to ride the contest with one hand. This did not detour the tour leader and Matti put down dominating round and took the win. Darren Turner was close behind and took 2nd with Kaylib Louw and Jacques Labaschagne tied in 3rd.

The Pro Men division is stacked full of the country’s best riders who put on an insane display of top class Wakeboarding. In the end it was Justin Mitri who took the win over Gregor Reichmuth in 2nd and Craig Eygenberger in 3rd.

The Ladies Division had the two top riders, Candice Bacon and Melissa Colborne, battling it out with CASA Learn 2 Ride development rider, Bryanna Motepe and returning ladies rider, Deidre van Niekerk for top honours. Melissa Colborne crashed hard but got back up and put in an impressive run taking the win. Candice Bacon cam in a close 2nd and Bryanna Motepe settled for 3rd.

The Junior Men division saw a close battle between brothers Jacques and Marius Labuschagne but it wasn’t enough to beat the dominant Jeanu du Plooy. Jacques Labuschagne finished in 2nd just ahead of Marius Labuschagne in 3rd. This division is full of talent and up and coming riders with promising progression of Wakeboarding in SA.

The Open Men is one of the biggest division on the tour with a host of passionate and talented riders. Bradley Morris lay it down all weekend long to take the overall. Jacques Greyling and Byron Brett finished tied in 2nd place and Martin Lombard took 3rd.
All in all the 2013 CASA Cable National season was a great success. Congrats to all the riders that placed and we already can’t wait for the 2014 season. A shout out to the sponsord who made this event possible, Liquid Force SA, Forever Resorts Warmbaths, Von Zipper SA, Red Bull, G-Form SA and Liquid Adrenaline Magazine.
