It means everything to me and I don’t know where I would be without it.
What do you enjoy the most about riding your dirt bike?
I enjoy jumping massive jumps the most, because it feels like you are floating.
What are some of the highlights of your career so far?
In 2014 I went to Belgium to compete in the Junior World Champs and ended up breaking my collarbone whilst practicing.
How many times a week do you get to ride?
I usually ride twice a week, but depends on school sport fixtures if I can get more riding in.
Besides riding, do you do any other form of training?
Yes I do. I enjoy running, my brother and I go mountain biking and sometimes I do strength exercises but not often enough.
Racing in the Pro mini class this year, who do you feel is your main competition?
Cameron Durow is my biggest competition.
What’s it going to take to stay ahead of the pack and win the championship?
Hard work and dedication.
Who are some of your favourite local riders?
Kerim Fitz-Gerald, because he is really fast and is a good sportsman, and Anthony Reynard because he has a cool style.
Who are some of your favourite international riders?
Ryan Dungey, he is really smooth, fast and he is the champion.
Which is your favourite track in the country and why?
Teza, because it is a really awesome and relaxing place, and has massive jumps for an 85.
You’ll be racing Mini O’s for the first time later this year. What are you looking forward to most and what are your goals for the event?
I’m really looking forward to riding new tracks and with more guys on the line, and making new friends. My goal is to try and finish in a top 10 position.
What is your ultimate goal for your career in motocross?
It is to become a pro rider.
What advice would you give any other kids looking to get into the sport?
I would say they should just have fun and enjoy it.
Any shout-outs?
I would just like to give a shout out to LWMag for this interview and all my sponsors mentioned already. And to my coach Darryl Fitz-Gerald from Pelotrain, he has been training me from the beginning and we have got good results.
