The penultimate round of the 2018 UCI Downhill MTB World Cup took place in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada. The popular course features some of the fastest and most technical sections of the world circuit resulting in thrilling racing.
In the Mens race it was Loïc Bruni who returned to the podium and claimed the win with a blistering time of 4:12,713. Troy Brosnan posted what looked to be the winning time of 4:13,034 but was edged out by Bruni’s run by just 0.321 seconds. Danny Hart, who qualified fastest, finished in 3rd place with a time of 4:14,036.
Amaury Pierron’s 4th place finish sealed the Men’s overall title.
Greg Minnaar retruned to racing after injury and looked to be on a blistering run until he spun out in a coner and finished in 16th with 4:21,537.
Although qualifying in 2nd place, Rachel Atherton dominated the Womens finals to take the win with an impressive time of 4:51,443. Tahnée Seagrave, who qualified fastest, could only put a 2nd place run together with a time of 4:56,530. Tracey Hannah finished in 3rd with her time of 5:11,723.
