Red Bull King of the Air 2014 Confirmed

The Red Bull King of the Air will be back in 2014. The successful Kiteboarding event took place earlier this year and reignited the kiting community’s imagination. The world’s best Kiteboarders will again descend to Big Bay in Cape Town to compete in the big air competition and prove their skills in a new and spectacular contest format. Spectators will be treated to radical high jumps with various tricks, kite loops and style being performed with insane height and speed during the one day event.

Known for its pristine Kiteboarding condition during January and February, Cape Town is the perfect location guaranteeing an awesome event with big airs and bigger moves.

12 of the best Kiters from 2013 will return to compete against 12 wildcards selected from online entries at www.redbullkingoftheair.co.za bringing together a 24 participant line up.

USA Kiter and defending champion, Jesse Richman is already preparing for the event and has stated that Big Bay in Cape Town is possibly the arena he has ever seen. “The place is made to send us flying” stated Richman. He is pumped to compete in the Red Bull King of the Air again and to see how far he can push the limits.

The judges, Greg Thijsse (RSA), ReinierKorstanje (NED), Arek Jerzelkowski (POL), William Bogaards (NED), Jim Gaunt (GBR) and Ralf Bachsuster (GER), will have a tough time on their hands in the judges tower scoring the arial masters.

The event window period has been confirmed from the 25th January and 9th February 2014 to ensure the best cauloty wind conditions.

The invited riders include, Nick Jacobsen (DEN), Gianni Aragno (ESP), Jesse Richman (USA), Sam Light (GBR), Ruben Lenten (NED), Oswald Smith (RSA), Lewis Crathern (GBR), Billy Parker (USA), Shawn Richman (USA), Kevin Langeree (NED), Andries Fourie (RSA) and Kevin de Smidt (NED).
