The Red Bull Curb Kings skateboarding competition took over Magnolia Dell DIY spot in Pretoria. The event saw local skateboarders from around the city come together at a DIY spot built by the Slappy Skate Crew for a thrilling skate contest.
The Curb Kings competition challenges skateboarders, amateurs to professionals, to showcase their skills on unique street obstacles. The event featured some of the best local skateboarders who battled it out on a course consisting of the existing DIY blocks, side curbs, small ledges and slappies, to be crowned the Curb King of Pretoria.
Siye Matshalilanga displayed impressive consistency and technical skills, which allowed him to use the entire course to his advantage and take home the 1st place prize. Shaun Burger kept everyone entertained with his big tricks and high energy, and also stood out for his impressive Best Trick performance, finishing in 2nd place, while Ruan Wessels’ old and new school tricks on the curbs secured him 3rd place.

Curb skateboarding will always be part of the skate culture DNA. “Overall, the event was a testament to the talent and passion of Pretoria’s skateboard community, and the Slappy Skate Crew’s commitment to creating a vibrant and welcoming skate scene in the city,” said Sam Khumalo of Skate Society Soweto.
