Perfect Dube Making Waves in the Wakeboarding Scene

Perfect Dube is a name that has quickly made waves in the Cable Wakeboarding scene. Perfect was introduced to the sport just one year ago through the Learn2Ride programme, run by the awesome people at StokeCity WakePark, and claimed the Amateur Title in his first year of competing. He has now moved into the Open Men division for 2014 and we’re pretty amped to see what he can pull off.
We hooked up an interview with the talented rider and chatted about how he got into Wakeboarding, the present and the future. Check out what he had to say:

Tell us how you got into Wakeboarding?
My friend Darren Turner told me about the Learn2Ride programme at StokeCity WakePark and he thought I’d get the hang of it pretty quick, so I gave it a shot and I had nothing loose.

What has the Learn2Ride programme done for you?
It has given me opportunity to travel and I’ve met a lot of interesting people and characters that have pushed me with my riding. I’ve always wanted to fly or feel what it’s like, now I actually can.

What do you enjoy most about the sport?
The endless possibilities that can be reached on a wakeboard and the rush you feel when you go big and ride away.

Wakeboarding is Perfect Dube's passion

“The biggest, I’d have to say an Air Railey. I’ve also just got my Front Flips down. The next trick I want to land is a Blind Judge”

Do you only ride cable or do you get to ride boat as well?
Just cable at the moment.

Which cable park is your favourite and why?
StokeCity WakePark. I meet a lot of different and interesting people and I have fun even on my bad days.

How often do you get to ride and train?
5 days a week.

What is one of the biggest tricks you are landing and what new trick are you working on?
The biggest, I’d have to say an Air Railey. I’ve also just got my Front Flips down. The next trick I want to land is a Blind Judge.

You took the championship in 2013. Will you be riding the same division this year? If so, what will you be doing to defend your title?
I wish my reply to this question was yes but unfortunately, or should I say fortunately, I’m in a higher division now and I plan on ripping  and doing the best I can.

What goes through you’re mind when you are on the water?
Honestly, the next trick and how to land it.

Any shout outs?
I’d like to give a big Thank you to Kyle and Chantal Holtzhauzen, Jan de Lange, Amped Distributors aka Liquid Force, and Darren Turner.

The Learn2Ride Wakeboarding programme gets riders involved in the sport

*The Learn2Ride programme was started by StokeCity Wakepark giving underprivileged children the chance to try their hand at watersports available at the park with free use of their equipment and free training. Perfect Dube is a prime example of what this programme can produce.
