Young goofy-footer Max Elkington is one of the danger surfers coming into the Billabong Junior Series Final to be held at Seal Point, Cape St Francis this weekend. Part of the event will be the World Surf League Africa regional Boys and Girls junior championships. Max Elkington is one of the surfers entered into this division, who is currently ranked third place on the leaderboard.

Max is a friendly and likeable surfer, but when he hits the water all friendships stop. He likes to win his contests. Last year he won the U14 Boys Junior Division at the event, as well as winning the U14 Boys Junior Series he went on to win the U15 Boys division in the Billabong SA Junior Champs presented by BOS at the Lower Point in JBay.
Max is most likely so competitive due to the fact that he has an extremely competitive brother in Jake Elkington, and many sessions later the two surfers have grown up with a friendly but competitive rivalry. Thriving on competitive surfing, and understanding the subtleties of surfing heats, the two brothers have won a multitude of heats and titles, and will most likely do well at the last run of junior surfing events in the country for the year.
Surfing as a goofy-footer has no disadvantage for Max, even though the two surf venues are right-hand point-breaks and will see him surf with his back to the wave at both the Billabong Junior Series Final and the Billabong SA Junior Champs presented by BOS. The waves are two of the best high performance waves in the country, and Max has a polished and powerful backhand approach.
