What are your thoughts on your new album “Home”?
My thoughts? That’s a pretty broad question to ask. I’ll leave that to the people who buy the album to answer.
How long have you been recording the album?
The recording process took 3 weeks in studio in Cape Town, and about a week in NYC. So all together it took about a month to piece it all together.
Where did you get your inspiration for the songs on the album?
A range of influences each took their role in the creation of this project. From my travels abroad at the beginning of last year, to my home here in CT, to my partner in crime and amazing wife Yuliya, to the musicians that I aligned myself with. It never comes from one source for me, it’s a culmination of events, experiences and people.
Which song on the album is your favourite and why?
I never have a favourite. Each song has a life of its own, and I respect all of them equally.
What message do your songs deliver?
Again a very broad question. Each listener has their own interpretation of a song, that’s what’s great about music. One person could find a song super emotional, heavy, and tiresome to listen to more than once per sitting, while another will find the same song full of positivity and inspiration and be able to listen to that song on repeat for hours. Again, I choose for the listener to make that decision on what they feel the message is.
What can fans expect from your new album?
Another chapter.
Which single do you think is going to be a fan favourite?
That’s impossible for me to answer. Everyone will have a different favourite I think.
Are you working on any music videos for any of the singles? Which one can we expect first?
There are 2 videos been shot at the same time for “Own Way Home” and “Beggar On The Street”.
What’s next for Farryl Purkiss?
Just get out there and play music with my band anywhere I can, and everywhere I can afford take them to.
