This past weekend (26th April) played host to the first ever round of the Freestyle Motocross Development Series which took place at The Institute FMX Park in Benoni, Gauteng. A 200 strong crowd with 22 riders made for a successful event which is geared to put FMX back on the map in SA by getting new riders involved and competing.

Some of SA’s top FMX riders – Nick de Wit, Alastair Sayer, Dallan Goldman and Stewart Couper – were there to check the event out, give advice to up and coming riders, take part in a pro demo and compete in the whip comp. The day consisted of 3 various contests, being the Amateur Comp, the Pro-Am Comp and the Best Whip Comp, all filled with high flying dirt bike action.

This type of event is exactly what the sport needs in this country and a huge shout out goes to the guys from The Institute for their hard work and prepped park. To the sponsors Indy Oil, 42 Designs, X-Lube, Fuel Effect, Sparx Distribution and Dragon Goggles, we thank you!
Keep posted for info on Round 2 which we are pretty damn sure will be even bigger and better.
