Freeze Frame Win 2014 Red Bull Beat Battle

Walter Sisulu Square played host to the 4th Red Bull Beat Battle where 8 of SA’s best dance crews battled it out in the finals to see who would be crowned this year’s champions. Freeze Frame from Kempton Park in Joburg fought their way to victory in front of a 1800 strong audience.

Almost 200 dance crews auditioned for this year’s Red Bull Beat Battle and in the end just 8 descended on Soweto for the finals. Dance styles from Hip Hop to Pantsula, Isbhujwa and breaking saw one crew come out on top. Freeze Frame went up against defending champions, The Prophelaz, in the final and beat them to claim victory.

Judges Lorna Maseko, Somizi Mhlongo, Tumi Tladi and Vouks Nojokes had their work cut out for them but were however not the only judges on the night. The audience played the 5th judge and had their say in who won the final.

The audience was entertained by not only the insane dance talent but were also treated to performances by Doc Shebeleza, Siya Shezi, Cassper Nyovest and Kwaito legends Trompies and DJ Shimza.
