Heavy Hitters join a hardcore list of surfing locals to fill all the entry slots in The Cave Rock Tube Masters:

The Cave Rock Tube Masters is a speciality Tube Riding Event where surfers are scored on the deepest, longest, heaviest Tubes ridden with maximum commitment. It will only run on one day when the surf is 6-8ft and pumping. It features a new non-elimination format that sees 20 surfers in the event rotating 10 at a time in the water. The event has no time limit and will run for as long as the waves are producing great tube rides. Surfers will be scored on their top 4 rides thought the day.
Organiser, John McCarthy, an ardent surfer himself was impressed by the entrant list, but is equally humbled by the intensity of the venue.
“The tube ride has, is and always will be the holy grail of surfing. Cave Rock on its day is a really heavy, critical, world-class tube. With the combination of some very skilled and courageous local talent mixing it up with bona fide international names like Sean Holmes, Frankie O and Twiggy amongst others, I think we’re in for a real surfing treat, one that should appeal to purists and competitive followers alike.”
The Cave Rock Tube Masters is Sanctioned by Surfing South Africa (SSA) and supported by The City of Durban.
