On Friday the 12th of July a bunch of skaters left Cape Town for the 2013 Buck Tour Skateboarding comp presented by Volcom in George. A lot of us jumped in to the Volcom Van and hit the road. We arrived in George later that afternoon and soon after the fires were lit and the festivities started. The night looked to be a big one with everyone arriving and the annual Bowling contest going down.
Saturday we were up early feeling a bit rough but at the park early. The kids from Moreson Children’s home arrived at about 09:00am where we proceeded to hand out some complete boards and tee’s as part of the Skate for Hope Tour, After that we had a little skate clinic as most of the skaters arrived for the day.
At around 12pm the entries where done and the contest was under way. We saw Some amazing skating from the likes of Khule Ngubane, Justus Kotze, Alan Marolla, Byron Rhoda, Stefan Jacobs and many more. In the end it was Khule Ngubane who came in 3rd, Byron Rhoda in 2nd and Alan Marolla the defending champion in 1st place. After the contest we went straight into a Best Trick contest on the Pyramid where a lot of tricks went down. Gheto Birds, Double 360 Flips, Nollie Big Spin Heels and more, but it was Khule Ngubane that walked away with the cash with a Nollie Double Lateflip over the hip.
We rapped up the contest with a highest ollie contest just before prize giving . A lot of guys had a go and it ended in a tie, but Alan Marolla was not up for that and cleared the highest height and walked away with some more money sponsored by Mr Miller from Skatelab.
All in All it was a great weekend , and I have to say thank you to Volcom, NSA, Old School Productions,Session, AV, Legion Skatelab, Monster Energy and everyone else that helped to make this a truly epic weekend.
Buck Tour 2013, we arrived young men , but left as Wizards!
