SupaDrift Series – Event 5

Dezzi Circuit, Port Shepstone. 21st July 2012, plays host to one of the largest and fastest growing motorsports to date. The top drifters in the country do battle at one of SA’s newest drift circuits. Its going to be a side to side massacre!

Drifting in South Africa is fast becoming a premier series amongst other motorsports codes and thus crowds pour into the various raceways to be entertained by drifters coming to scar the tarmac with their trusted high horse powered rear wheel drive vehicles. The SupaDrift Series provides a perfect platform for a family-tainment spectacular and a day out for sideways action. Saturday the 21st July will see drivers poised against the trickery of the Sheppies circuit away from home and navigating some challenging cornering. The drivers contend not only against the fast circuit and entry speed but the difficult line and clipping points as set by the judges.

A few surprises will make for an undoubtedly competitive track as drift stars like Michael Radloff, Dezzi Circuits inaugural winner, and Wade van Zummeren have got to know the elusive circuit and its cornering very well and will be sure to aim at a podium finish. Jethro Swartz, another high finisher in the last event at Dezzi Circuit, will have his work cut out against the Kwa-Zulu Natalians especially david Nell, who comes off a high recently winning the Shakedown series event in Phakisa, Welkom. Gautengers will also be travelling down to the event to come pay tribute and scrub the rubber on the Dezzi Circuit.

The Supa 16 and Great 8 knockout rounds is where the rubber melts the road or vice versa; and even more compelling drifting will stun and wow the KZN crowds.

The knockout tandems are every bit entertaining whereby the rear wheel drive machines poise against one another only a matter of centimeters apart in some circumstances and moreover the results can be interestingly unpredictable seeing large HP come up against low HP vehicles and the latter win the tandem competition!

XS Promotions, owners and SupaDrift Series promoters, have, with its various partners, like AutoTrader.co.za, Speed and Sound performance magazine, Achilles Tyres and Turn 1 Wheels, Liqui-Moly Oils and Lubricants, Chevrolet, and Ed Hardy Energy Drink not forgetting production sponsor F1-X performance exhausts, attempted to attract the ‘unconverted’ fan back to the Raceways and circuits around the country. The broadcast and eventing platform as well as the soap opera created by this year’s SupaDrift Series and its drivers is going to supplant traditional motorsports broadcasting.

The SupaDrift Series 05 event starts at 8am on Saturday the 21st of July and ends at approximately 5pm. Entrance fee/charge is R80 for adults and R50 for children. Tickets will also be available at the gate and entrance onto the track or on www.webtickets.co.za
