Catch some drifting action at the Dezzi Raceway, Port Shepstone, on the 12th of May 2012 as The SupaDrift Series hits the South Coast.
The SupaDrift Series is getting ready for the third event of the series, which currently lugs a fast growing popularity amongst motorsport enthusiasts and participants alike. XS Promotions, the international action sports company, are bringing this Series in a new fresh format to the public and have made the Dezzi Raceway its KZN destination. A ‘20-20 cricket’ format in motorsports sounds like an oxymoron but the way drifting works is to get all competitors through a qualifying round which cedes them from 1-16 and beyond depending on the number of professional drivers entered into the competition. However, top 16 drivers then go head to head in tandem battles to see who dominates the tarmac; and like a Wimbledon tennis event, at the end of the day, a champion is crowned after head to head clashes are undertaken.
With current points leader, Wade van Zummerun (representing Black Insurance and Border Towing Team), recently returning from a successful trip to Japan, he aims to increase his lead. However, the weekends affairs on the blacktop remains an open contest for many of the top contenders to close the points gap. Drivers like David Nel, representing, Ed Hardy Energy Drink, are set to making headway for the number 1 position. Jason Webb, from Johannesburg, sponsored by Monster Energy Drink is also aiming high and has spent much time getting his car ready for the battle on the Dezzi tarmac. Jonathan Rudman has upgraded his 200SX Turbo Toys Achilles Tyres Nissan’s motor to get his nose in the points tally and make waves, or smoke rather, amongst the top challengers.
Other drivers like Riaan Stokes and Rudi van den Berg (Falken Tyres RX7 rotary) are fierce competitors and looking aggressively to vie for the championship in order to accrue a sponsorship and get noticed.
The drift pitch awaits East London drivers, Michael Radloff and all the way from JHB, representing Turtle wax, Dorne Brits, amongst other teams and local drivers.
Achilles Tyres and Turn 1 Wheels driver, Adam Scheffer, who is definitely ‘Mr. Consistent’ on any given day could take the trophy! He says that he needs a couple of front runners to do their job in the tandem eliminations in order for him to come out on top of the leader board; however compatriot, Ed Hardy Energy Drink, Achiles Tyres and Turn 1 wheels driver, Jim McFarlane says that he too is on the game for a good weekend’s drifting.
XS Promotions, owners and SupaDrift promoters, have, with its various partners, like Speed and Sound performance magazine, Achilles Tyres, Liqui-Moly Oils and lubricants, Turn 1 Wheels, AutoTrader.co.za, Chevrolet motorvehicles, Ed Hardy Energy Drink and F1-X performance exhausts almost finished the first 3 x episodes of the lifestyle TV series, ‘Atomic Junkies’. The episode will be airing on the Ignition Channel next month.

The SupaDrift Series show starts at 8am on Saturday the 12th of May and ends at approximately 5pm. Entrance fee/charge is R80.00 for adults and R50.00 for children from www.computicket.com .Tickets will also be available at the gate.
