The 5th round of the SupaDrift Series took place at the Dezzi Raceway in KZN on the 29th of June and was filled with action packed drifting in every race. The track, which had a new in format due to the track being reversed, played host to some amazing drifting and put the drivers to the test.
Right off the bat drama unfolded during the qualifying heats as drivers had small collisions around the track, clipped cones and scored zero. The first collision took place is the 1st battle of the top eight where Jason Webb got too close to Wade van Zummeren and hit his car. Webb took the race win as Van Zummeren couldn’t restart due to two broken side-shafts. Two spinout came by way of Otto Graven and Jacque Lemmer which resulted in Jim McFarlane and Paolo Gouveia going through to the semi.
In the semi final, Jason Webb had another collision with Paolo Gouveia but his quick and aggressive driving skills put him through to the final. Mike Radloff also made it through to the final after battling in a very close semi final race again Jim McFarlane.
An exciting final between Jason Webb and Mike Radloff, both in Nissan S13 cars, took place with Jason taking the lead, being closely followed by Mike but it wasn’t enough to beat Jason’s run when it was Mikes’ chance to lead. Jason stayed super close to Mike’s car to score top points and take his second SupaDrift Series win in a row.
