Sunday 21 October saw the final round (Round 8) of the Scotter 101 Series go down at the Kyalami Kart Circuit and what an action packed day it was. We can’t wait for the 2013 series. Scooter 101’s head honcho Brannigan Achadinha sent in this report on the days racing.
On Saturday (the day we were meant to race) there was one epic Hail storm that seemed to kill cars and destroy innocent outdoor furniture, we were very scared Sunday would turn out the same as all the weather channels seemed to say that there was going to be 80º chance of thundershowers and storms all day.

Yet again I think those weather men were smoking their socks cause we got to the track at 6am and even though it was overcast there wasn’t a rain drop insight.
The pits filled up and the guys were properly amped for the final as by 8am we were on the track ready for qualifying and warm up for stock class and open class. Qualifying went well and safe for both classes and everyone seemed happy with their results knowing that in the race they would drop a sec off their times.

After about 45min waiting for the mini moto guys to finish their qualifying we started out with the stock class heat 1. This class was the main event of the day cause in round 7 we already worked out that Eric Flowerday had already won the open class 2012 championship series. So now it had come down to the last race of the year to find out the winner of the stock class as Jaco Joubert and Louw Du Toit only had an amazing 1 point difference. Louw had come on his new Gilera runner 200cc 4-stroke and Jaco was on his Super fast Jonway C5 300cc. Because this was a tight track Jaco had the disadvantage of the bigger scooter that made power only mid range up, but this made him ride harder. Almost loosing it a few times he unfortunately just lost the first round to Louw by literally a couple of split seconds.
Heat 2 of stock class started with tension from the 2 riders that you could see through their tinted visors. The death stares and the intimidating revs at the start line trying to psych each other out. But after on intense elbow bashing and amazing race from both riders Louw took another win. Heat 3 was a bit different when Jaco pulled some amazing riding out the bag and took 1st place and Louw 2nd but unfortunately that’s all Louw needed to take the 2012 Stock class championship win!

Open class was yet again the crazy, insane, if you have balls of lead you can ride class, that only entertains the crowds like no other class. Heat 1 was clean and battles were happening throughout the field but the main battle was between Cheyne Hershal and Jeremy Pincus. The old man Jeremy still has it when he took heat 1, heat 2 and yes heat 3’s wins. Cheyne Hershal finishing 2nd in all heats but behind them there were insane crashes with Eric Flowerday being run over by our guest superstar rider Ronan Quarmby and Clinton Achadinha out braking the shizim out of Ray Hansmeyer to try catch up and take out his little bro, myself, Brannigan Achadinha.

I’m super happy to say that the season ended on a super high note where everyone was happy, in great spirit and getting along with everyone. Scooter 101 family of riders have become to know and respect each other. We are a family and you are all welcome to join this amazing Scooter 101 series!
