We regard Ryan Williams as one of the most naturally talented Action Sports athletes the world has ever seen! A scooter rider who has introduced countless world-first tricks and is now doing the same in BMX. Williams won the Best Trick awards in both Scooter and BMX at this year’s Nitro World Games.
Now on his way to South Africa for the Nitro Circus Live tour, we chat to him about what we can expect.

What are you looking forward to most during the Nitro Circus Live South African Tour?
I want to repeat every amazing thing we did last time we came! Swimming with Great White sharks, going on Safari, performing in front of our largest crowd ever – all of it. It was fantastic!
Out of the 3 stops which city do you think will be your favorite?
It’s so hard to pick which city will be the favourite but last time it was Johannesburg due to it being our biggest show ever!
During the last South African tour Nitro Circus saw some of its biggest crowds. How do your South African fans compare to the rest of the world?
I think maybe South Africa doesn’t get shows like this very often, so when we come they go absolutely bonkers and we love it!
What does being a part of Nitro Circus mean to you?
Being a part of the Nitro Circus means being a part of controlled chaos, although it may seem like we just throw our bodies every which way without a care in the world. We are actually calculating every movement and making sure we are working with our muscle memory. Unless we are sitting on a couch with wheels jumping 40 feet, that’s just a whole other ball game.
What is one of the craziest things you’ve ever experienced during a Nitro Circus Live show?
Erik Roner doing a running backflip BASE jump into the arena intros during our last South Africa tour!
What have been some of your highlights of 2017 thus far?
Taking 1st place in both the Scooter and BMX Best Trick competitions at the Nitro World Games!
What can fans expect from the Nitro Circus Live South Africa shows?
The South African fans can expect new never been done before trick. I know everyone on tour is excited to perform there so you never know what they are going to bring out in the show!
What has been one of the hardest trick for you to learn?
I would have to say one of the hardest tricks I’ve ever learned was the triple Frontflip on a BMX. I had never done a triple Frontflip on anything, let alone with a BMX bike. So going straight for the triple Frontflip on BMX was definitely one of the scariest things I have ever done!
What are your top 5 biggest tricks?
Its so hard to narrow the biggest tricks down but I’ll try.
1. 1440 Frontflip on Scooter (5 rotations).
2. Triple Frontflip on BMX.
3. Triple Backflip on Scooter.
4. 1080 Frontflip BMX.
5. Free Willy (Backflip Nothing Front Scooterflip).
Will we be seeing any of them in the shows?
I think there is a very good chance you will see one of those tricks, if not something even better!
Which Nitro Circus athlete blows your mind every time you see them perform?
I would have to say Bruce Cook, because he has overcome all the odds and throws down so hard at every show inspiring thousands of people!
Why should South Africa fans not miss Nitro Circus Live?
If I was a South African fan, I wouldn’t miss Nitro Circus just on the fact that you’re guaranteed to see the best aspects of action sports all in one show, as well as a little bit of stupidity to keep you laughing but on edge of your seat the whole way through!
Lastly, any words for your South African fans?
Can’t wait to see you all at the show and can’t wait to hopefully celebrate some new World First with you all.
