Give us some insight into the life of Leana. What does your usual week consist of?
Since being a fitness model it’s not too difficult to imagine where I spend most of my time during the week, the gym has become my 2nd home without a doubt. When I’m not training I assist my fiancé at their company as his personal assistant whenever he needs my assistance. No matter the amount of hours I commit myself to at gym I never neglect my family or friends, I always make sure I spend quality time with them as often as possible. I also love helping ladies with competition posing, especially ladies stepping on stage for the 1st time.
You have just won the Beach Bikini division at the 2015 IFBB SA’s, congratulations. What does this victory mean to you?
Thank you! This has been my very 1st time competing at the IFBB SA Championships and what an unbelievable experience it has been. This is without a doubt my biggest accomplishment thus far and I’m still on cloud 9. I have worked so hard and I’m just thankful all my hard work has paid off. This just again confirms that what you put in you get out, this has definitely given my self-confidence a huge boost and I can’t wait to take on the next big goal I have set for myself, stepping on stage at the Arnold’s in 2016!
Tell us bout your journey to the win?
Nothing in life comes easy and I can say without a doubt I had to challenge myself mentally and physically Every. Single. Day! I’m a very goal driven individual and once I set my mind to something I just have to push through no matter what life throws at me. Luckily I have amazing support from family and friends helping me stay motivated and determined to reach my goal. You don’t know how strong you are until you start to push yourself!
How much work went into preparing for IFBB SA’s?
My preparation for SA’s has surprisingly not been as challenging as one would expect seeing that I started competing early in this year and just maintained my body conditioning. I had competed in 4 shows before SA’s which meant I was already “competition ready” and did not have to work as hard near the end as in the beginning.
How much has your lifestyle changed since you have been active in the fitness industry?
Well…not having cake for breakfast has been a drastic lifestyle change for me [laughs]. The meal plan took some getting use to.
I’ve always been very active from a young age being lucky to eat whatever, whenever I wanted and still managed to stay in good shape. However the biggest obstacle for me was learning to get out of my comfort zone and really push myself. I believe nothing is impossible, hard work always beats talent. With a little discipline and a mindset change I have proven to myself that I’m definitely stronger than I ever thought I could be.
What do you miss the most and what don’t you miss at all prior getting into the fitness industry?
I have to admit that during competition prep I’m extremely strict on my diet and this unfortunately means having to stay strong not being able to enjoy a nice brunch with family and friends at get togethers or birthdays, etc. But my goal to succeed dominates the idea of failure making me stay strong and determined.
What I really don’t miss is always feeling drained and lacking energy. It’s just incredible how proper nutrition and exercise can boost your energy levels.
How does it feel to be featured as one of our LW Babes?
The feeling comes pretty close to how I felt when I won SA’s…incredible! It’s an absolute honour to have been considered and chosen as LW Babe of the Week. It doesn’t get better than this!
What goes through your mind when you are posing in front of the camera?
Probably thinking what my next pose will look like [laughs]. I always imagine myself in an environment where there isn’t any camera on me as I believe this conveys more natural looking photo’s.
What do you think makes you sexy?
Probably my drive to succeed. Nothing sexier than a woman that know’s what she wants.
Which part of your body is your favourite and which part do you think our readers will like the most?
I really love training legs and I my legs are definitely my favourite part of my body. I believe most readers would agree as I always get complimented on my legs, especially my calves.
They say the best girls to date are Afrikaans girls. Why do you think that is?
[Laughs] Hmmm…probably because we have the cutest nick names for our partners. My bokkie, my skaapie, my hartjie. Secretly guys love this.
What makes your wild side come out?
Give me a credit card with no limit, a shoe shop and I’ll show you just how wild I can get.
What is one of the craziest things you have done, and would you do it again?
Diving with Sharks in Mozambique. It was a 1st, and definitely a last.
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when we mention:
Milkshakes? My Milkshake brings all the boys to the yard damn right it’s better than yours [laughs].
Protein shakes? Muscles.
Out of this world? Oreo cheesecake.
Goals? Go getter.
Date night? Me, my fiancé, movies and lots of chocolates and popcorn.
Exciting? LW Babe of the week.
