How would you describe your sound in 10 words or less to someone who had never heard your music?
Awesome! The other nine words are redundant.
What has changed since you were last featured in LW?
Last time we chatted to you we had never been on an Asian tour… now we have; it’s a real eye opener! And we’ve released an album that’s just been nominated for 2 SAMA awards so we’re feeling pretty good about life.
Who has the most annoying habits – especially when on tour?
Fabian snores like a rusty chainsaw and Etienne is always late. Otherwise we get along swimmingly.
Any plans for new singles/ videos?
Yeah, we actually just finished up a video for Skin vs. Bone. Bugsy (drummer) directed and produced the whole thing which is pretty awesome. The video looks great and should be out in the next month or so.
Any South African bands you’d like to collaborate with? Who? Why?
Newtown Knife Gang; they’re heavy as hell and great guys! I think something really interesting would come out of it…
Anything exciting/ interesting coming up?
We just got back from our Asian tour which provided enough excitement for the next month or two. We’re planning to start work on the new album in the not too distant future. Also, there is a new zombie film coming up that we’re hoping to write a theme track for.
If you had to assemble your dream band (provided you haven’t already…) who would be in it and what would be their roles?
I already play in my dream band… maybe Gwen Stefani could join on the tambourine.
What are your thoughts on CDs versus digital releases?
CDs will make a comeback. At the end of the day, a true fan wants to hold the product in their hand, appreciate the artwork and read the lyrics. Digital music is gone as soon as you upgrade or are mugged…whichever comes first.
What are your thoughts on the Rebecca Black “craze”?
Shame man; she’s just a kid. The video is pretty hilarious, but people need to have a laugh and then move the f*ck on.
Who are you currently listening to on repeat?
What do you think of the current South African rock scene?
I think it’s about as good as it’s ever been. There are a lot of really talented bands coming up at the moment, it’s awesome to see.
