2018 SupaDrift Series Round 5 Drift Report

Round 5 of the SupaDrift Series took place at the Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone. Although met with overcast and windy conditions, the drifting action on track was hot as ever as drivers battled it out on the South Loop track.

In qualifying, Jason Webb put down the best lap and qualified in 1st place with a score of 88,5. Shane Gutzeit followed closely with an 88, and Armand Bronkhorst secured 3rd with 83.

The Top 16 had its fair share of excitement as brothers, Gavin Puren and Brendan Puren battled it out, went into a OMT, with Gavin out-scoring Brendan. Mikey Skelton’s day came to an end when he crashed into Armand Bronkhorst, breaking the lower control arm in his vehicle. On initiation, Dewit Oosthuizen slammed into the back of Jim Mc Farlane, exactly as he did in Round 4.

Into the Top 8 and Gavin Puren surprised all as he battled against Jason Webb, and after a OMT, took the win. This put an end to Webb’s perfect season. Jim Mc Farlane found himself in a OMT battle with Adam Shefer and took the win. Shane Gutzeit beat Zain Hussen, who was battling with his R33, and Armand Bronkhorst out-drifted Zanil Satar, to move onto the Top 4

Round 5 of the 2018 SupaDrift Series providing exciting drifting action

The Top 4 saw Shane Gutzeit vs Armand Bronkhorst and Jim Mc Farlane vs Gavin Puren. The wins went to Gutzeit and Puren, leaving Mc Farlane and Bronkhorst battling for 3rd. In the end Mc Farlane took 3rd place, Shane Gutzeit took 2nd and Gavin Puren claimed 1st.
