2018 Dustin Rudman Invitational Stop 1

Stop 1 of the 2018 Dustin Rudman Invitational Downhill MTB race took place at the infamous Heldekruin Hill, and in honour of Ryan Heukelman. After the off-season, a lot of time and effort was put into the course preparing it for race day, and resulted in a fun, fast and competitive track.

The DRI brings with it a vibe like no other race. Stoke levels were high all weekend long as riders from around the country gathered to compete the two day event. On Saturday’s practice riders were met with a perfectly groomed and damp track, thanks to the rain earlier in the week. Competitors had the day to practice sections of the course and dial in their runs in preparation for the race.

Sunday’s race day had arrived. The track had dried up and was well worn in from the previous day’s practice. All categories had two race runs to put down, with the fastest of the two counting as their overall. By the time the second race runs took to the start the track had become rough and loose, but this did not slow down race run times. Riders put in their all in the hopes of bettering their first run times.
